New MEPs must prioritise cardiovascular health

Despite health not being an EU competence, progress has been made on cardiovascular health which must continue into the new parliamentary term.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are among the most common chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs), a group of conditions which are the leading cause of death worldwide. In Europe, CVDs account for over 50 per cent of all deaths from NCDs.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no. 611242
