The IT Innovation Centre is an applied research centre advancing information technologies and their uptake in industry, commerce and the public sector. Part of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, the Centre is an international leader in applied research in Future Internet technologies including social media, socio-economics, secure service-oriented systems, information discovery and decision support, and digital asset creation and management.
The Knowledge Media Institute (KMi) was set up in 1995 in recognition of the need for the Open University to be at the forefront of research and development in a convergence of areas that impacted on the Open University's very nature: Cognitive and Learning Sciences, Artificial Intelligence and Semantic Technologies, and Multimedia. We chose to call this convergence Knowledge Media. Knowledge Media is about the processes of generating, understanding and sharing knowledge using several different media, as well as understanding how the use of different media shape these processes. Our research is aligned with a number of broad strategic threads, currently Future Internet, Knowledge Management, Multimedia & Information Systems, Narrative Hypermedia, New Media Systems, Semantic Web & Knowledge Services and Social Software.
The institute "WeST - Web Science and Technologies" works on issues related to the usage and the technologies of the World Wide Web. Researchers consider the technical aspects of the Web being a globally networked information system and information services as well as the personal and social aspects of Web usage. They aim at understanding the structure and evolution of the Web, for making the Web even more useful and for ensuring its future prosperity and usefulness. Germane to these aspects are the novel technologies of the Semantic Web, Web Retrieval, Multimedia Web, Interactive Web and the Software Web.
GOVERNMENT TO YOU (Gov2u) is an international non-profit association created by a group of visionary professionals from the fields of Legislative Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and community activism aiming to suggest and promote tools that facilitate the everyday work of elected officials and that offer citizens a greater stake in political discourse by enabling them to contribute their ideas, suggestions, and opinions. Gov2u has significant experience in various eVoting and eParticipation projects and is internationally recognized as a pioneer organization in the field of eDemocracy.

DSV is placed in the Stockholm suburb of Kista and is an integral part of Kista Science City, which is one of the most advanced and leading ICT clusters in the world. DSV is one of the oldest and largest academic departments of ICT in Sweden.
